Ospreys nesting in Shallow Creek Cove, Maryland – April 21, 2015

The ospreys are nesting in Maryland again; this pair is nesting atop a navigation marker in a cove off North Point.

Their eggs should be hatching soon and I am looking forward to watching them this year.

      It is a visual navigation marker, Shallow Creek day-beacon 9; it is just a way for boaters to get a fix on their position.

      It has nothing to do with the ospreys, except that they chose it as a nesting site. They have a nice commanding view of the cove.

      I can’t wait to go back and visit them.
